Recently, Fine Magazine had the delightful pleasure of immersing ourselves in the luminous enchantment of the San Diego Botanic Garden's Lightscape show.
This extraordinary experience transcended mere visual spectacle, whisking us away into a realm of wonder and fantasy, akin to stepping into the pages of a Dr. Seuss tale. The Lightscape show, a mesmerizing blend of light and artistry, evoked a sense of whimsical charm and imaginative delight.
Moved by this magical experience, we felt compelled to express our journey in a novel and creative manner, crafted in the spirit of Dr. Seuss's whimsical storytelling.
In a garden so magical, where lights dance and play,
Visited San Diego Botanical, oh what a display!
Jessica's UK lightscape, a marvel to see,
In six US gardens, but here it's uniquely key.
Once in Chicago, the first of its kind,
Now in San Diego Botanic Garden, an intimate find.
Smallest of sites, but don't be misled,
Its charm and its wonder, beautifully spread.
Eighteen installations, a luminous sight,
With only two repeats, each year they ignite.
Three thousand and two hundred, each night they arrive,
Yet it's spacious and peaceful, as the lights come alive.
A stroll takes an hour, maybe a bit more,
But linger you can, there's much to explore.
Timed tickets they use, to minimize the crowd,
A clever approach, not loud, but allowed.
Artists so skillful, in nature they weave,
Not just a backdrop, but in what they achieve.
Uplighting the plants, with care and respect,
Each installation, a visual prospect.

Under the cathedral, some hearts they propose,
In a tunnel of lights, where true love glows.
And snacks stand ready for a sweet late-night treat,
Hot chocolate, savory bites, every craving to meet.
Ari Novy's the leader, with vision so bold,
From DC to here, stories of greenery told.
Six years in the making, his efforts now bloom,
In this garden of wonders, where lights consume.

Teenagers, too, find joy in this place,
Where poppies and fog mix in an ethereal space.
A recycle tree trunk, from Leucadia's own hand,
Now part of the garden, in this light-filled land.

So come one, come all, to this spectacle bright,
San Diego Botanical, a true delight.
Where nature and artistry beautifully blend,
A whimsical journey, right to the end!
