4 Tips For Traveling To Benidorm

Benidorm is a coveted tourist attraction and seaside town in Spain. However, just like any other travel plan, traveling to Benidorm requires some research to make your stay as comfortable as it can be with minimal inconveniences. Here are some tips for traveling to Benidorm.

1. Know What Weather To Expect

Knowing about the weather and seasons in Benidorm can influence your packing decisions and help you make accommodation choices based on your preferences and health conditions. Benidorm's year-round hot climate also leans toward semi-arid, with a short monsoon rainy spell in October. Since this destination is warm all year round, it attracts many tourists from colder regions worldwide.

Since most of the sightseeing in this seaside town is done on foot, pack comfortable footwear such as sandals and flip-flops and pack light and airy clothing so your body doesn't heat up. Sunscreen and other warm climate products are essential, along with a mini medical kit for emergencies. Regarding travel and accommodation affordability, the months of May, June, and September are the most cost-effective and calm. Most tourist arrivals happen in July or August and can make the town very crowded.

2. Transporting Yourself Around Town

If you are visiting the town of Benidorm, you will mostly be walking around on foot, and there are many delights to see for the avid pedestrian, such as the 2 km beachfront and the endless shops and cafes.

Fantastic footwear, light clothing, and a cap can be invaluable in the hot sun. Make sure you swap water bottles from your hotel and keep oral hydration sachets in your bag. Opting for a traveler's backpack is helpful as opposed to shoulder bags. Carry trail mix or packets of nuts or granola bars (healthy snack options you'd commonly find in kosher gift baskets), so you can stabilize your blood sugar in between meals.

The town has an efficient bus service for which tourists can purchase cards. You can buy a bus card for anywhere from 24 to 72 hours and alternatively purchase tickets on every ride, which tends to cost a bit more. Taxis are slightly harder to get, and tourists need to track down a taxi rank.

Most cab drivers may only speak Spanish, so if you have a particular address you need to get to, have it written down on paper or translate it through an app on your phone. Using an app translator or having a booklet of common phrases can help you communicate with shopkeepers and other pedestrians.

Bike racks can be found all over the city to facilitate cycling to and fro from locations. The bike-sharing scheme allows you to rent a bike and return it to the bike rack, and many tourists find this a cost-effective way of getting around.

3. Restaurant And Eatery Etiquette

Carrefour is one of the global supermarket chains you can find in the seaside town, so if you have a specific food or snack preference, you can usually find ingredients there. If you are staying in an Air Bnb, you can use a stove and other kitchen appliances, so buying groceries from here is helpful and easy. Many Air Bnb owners globally use short-term rental software to manage their vacation rental properties, including communicating with guests and streamlining payments. You can always ask beforehand whether using kitchen appliances is part of their accommodation offer.

As a tourist, avoid going to the most luxurious restaurants in Benidorm as this is rarely a sign of excellent quality. Certain restaurants do not even have fine cuisine on offer, and they are made to charge higher prices to non-locals. Always keep an eye out for what the local people are doing. Street food and street cafes are popular and serve the best delicacies and finger food. Eating in a unique eatery or restaurant is basic etiquette to leave at least a 15% tip.

4. Shopping

Benidorm is great for relaxing and beach-related activities but is not known as a shopping hub. Tourists looking to buy souvenirs can buy from small shops near the beach or the Cala de Finestrat market, which sells work from local artisans. Always check beforehand with your airline regarding how to measure luggage dimensions, so you do not have to pay extra for added weight in your luggage.
