Three Ways To Make The Most Out Of Your Ceiling

When decorating a room, we spend a lot of time thinking about what colors to paint the walls, where to put up wallpaper, and what skirting to choose. Any shelving frames probably influence your design or other artwork you want to fix to your walls as well. While so much consideration goes into what to do with the walls, you probably rarely think about what you'll do with the ceiling. Other than Aertex and coving, you might think there's very little you can do to make this part of the room stand out. If you're stuck on ideas, here are three ways to make the most out of your ceiling.

Add a window out onto the world.

One of the best ways to make a feature out of your ceiling is to remove a large chunk of it. Instead of having a completely blank and flat top, why not consider installing a window to the outside world into your roof. Not only will you be able to look up and see the beautiful sky, but this window will even help fill the whole room with more natural light. Some will even allow you to open them remotely to let more air in during those warm and stuffy summer days. There is a wide range of Pitched & Flat Roof Windows to choose from, so you'll be sure to find one to suit any room. You might think it would take some severe constructional work to fit one of these windows, but you may be surprised how quick and affordable it is to install one of these windows. Once you have one installed in your home, it could be one of the most unique, iconic, and structurally beautiful features of your home.

Go for a statement light fitting.

The vast majority of ceilings will have a lightbulb hanging from one dull-looking white cable. You might have a chandelier in your dining room, but the rest of the house might be full of these light lighting fixtures. There are so many different ceiling lighting choices out there now, allowing you to pick a completely different light fitting for every single room in your house. While some are very slimline and basic, others look like you have an art installation hanging from your ceiling.

Paint it a completely different color

We've all heard of feature walls, but why do we never hear about feature ceilings? Don't just assume that a ceiling needs to be painted white. Painting it a different bright color from the rest of the room can create an impactful look as you enter a room. You could even paint a band of this color at the top of your walls to merge where the wall ends, and the ceiling starts. Another great look is to paint your ceiling the same color as your walls simple. This again makes it harder for the eye to tell where the ceiling starts and the wall's end, making any room look a lot taller.
